Urban Music Festival Will Celebrate Opening Of Boxpark Croydon
Living in Croydon means that there’s always something exciting around the corner – be it the opening of a new shopping centre, the appearance of a big musical act at one of the area’s esteemed arts venues, or a major regeneration project in the works.
One thing that is set to hit the town in weeks to come manages to be a combination of all three. Boxpark Croydon is the site for a festival set to take place on 29th and 30th October to coincide with the opening of the eagerly awaited venue, which is being constructed out of shipping containers.
Something for all tastes
Within Boxpark will be countless opportunities to try a selection of cuisines and delicious drinks from some of the city’s top vendors, including breakfast cafes, breweries, vegetarian and vegan options and much more.
The opening of Boxpark coincides with an urban music festival headlined by big musical names, including grime artist Wiley and special guests. It’s an event not to be missed, regardless of your tastes in music, food or drink.
An exciting time for Croydon
Roger Wade, the director of Boxpark, said that he was “delighted” to announce the festival, adding: “We hope to make Croydon one of the most exciting London boroughs and this is just the beginning of many events for the local community and wider areas. Expect everything from festival warm-ups to organic food markets, plus daily programmed events”.
Timothy Godfrey, Croydon Council’s cabinet member for culture, said that such festivals should be a regular occurrence in the town, adding: “Croydon’s evolving faster than people can keep up with and seeing the names associated with this event is a brilliant sign of things to come”.
“This is exactly why we’re supporting performance venues and the arts in general. In a few more years festivals like this should be a regular part of the town.”
